At ClarityHR we not only believe in hiring veterans, but we also know the companies that hire them have an experienced and talented workforce. Unfortunately, even in 2023, our veterans’ unemployment rates are higher than their non veteran counterparts. Our veterans come with unique skills and experience that can bring leadership and diversity to any company. As of 2022, there were about 18.4 million men and women veterans in the United States. Veterans account for about 7 percent of the civilian population, age 18 and over, that are non-institutional. These people put their lives on the line to protect our freedom.
In this blog, we are going to talk about the advantages of hiring veterans.
August 2023 Veteran Unemployment Rates:
In August 2023, the veteran unemployment rate was 3.6%, up from 2.8% the previous month and 2.4% the prior year. Additionally, the comparable non-veteran unemployment rate was 3.7% in August of 2023, up from 3.4% the previous month and 3.6% the prior year.
“Among Gulf War-era veterans, the unemployment rate of veterans with a service-connected disability was little changed at 3.4 percent and the rate for veterans with no disability decreased to 1.9 percent in August 2022.”
