Danielle Sanders and Andrea Alderman set posts, assembled a pergola and created a beautiful outdoor space at The Highlands, the only licensed residential teen pregnancy center in the state of Ohio which provides critical services to homeless or at-risk pregnant teens and their babies. Their attendance was spurred through AUI’s sponsorship of the Rebuilding Together She Builds Program. She Builds is a powerful collaboration between Rebuilding Together, corporate and community leaders who are dedicated to advancing the housing and community issues affecting women. Volunteers, homeowners, and community members come to the builds with a myriad of experiences and skills to share and learn from one another. Not only are community members given the opportunity to give back but underserved women are empowered to improve their health and safety conditions by taking home repair training classes to also assist in the renovation projects taken on by She Builds and to make home repairs in their own homes.
