How do you get your team on the same page at work? One of the best ways to develop a great company culture is to build on common goals. Having the right perspective and mindset at work and in life are key parts of this. Today, “team building” is a big business buzzword. There are lots of ways to build great teams, but for ClarityHR and AUI, team building goes a step further.
We asked CEO Chrissy Myers for the one book that influenced her in business the most. Her answer “The Energy Bus” by Jon Gordon. Here are some of the reasons Chrissy loves this book for her team.
Why Does Your Team Read “The Energy Bus?”

All new team members at AUI and ClarityHR are given a copy of the book “The Energy Bus” by Jon Gordon. For Chirssy “it’s not the book that’s the main recipe and How to Run Your Business. It’s not the framework of what we what we do. It’s more about the mindset of having the right perspective.” When a new employees starts working with our organizations, we want them to get on the bus with us. There are going to be things that you’re going to have high days, you’re going to have low days but it’s about your mindset and your perspective as you run an organization or as you’re in an organization.
The first thing when someone comes in and they are a new hire, we’re like, here, here’s the audio book and here’s the physical book. You can listen to it or read it however you want. But this has to happen within your first week because it’s the most important piece of who we are. It’s really the mindset of how we run our organization.
“The Energy Bus” talked so much about perspective and vision, setting your personal vision and then caring for the people that are within your purview. We look at, I look at the energy bus as a sign ClarityHR and this is the vision of where we’re going. The people on our bus, our team members, how we experience things together is really important. You create your vision for your bus and then you care for all the people that are on your bus at the same time and you’re getting them to their destination. Sometimes the people on our bus are our clients and customers. Sometimes they are our team members. It is just really building on the question of how do you how do you create an environment where you enjoy being?
Advantages of Using Books for Team Building:
When you have your team read the same books can promote shared knowledge, company culture, collaboration, professional development, empathy, team bonding, inspiration, and alignment of goals and strategies, ultimately leading to a more cohesive and successful organization.
